Indoor Etiquette

  • No flash; tripods/monopods are typically not allowed.
  • Step aside after your shot; visitors and worshippers share the space.

Rooftop Angles

  • Use the marble tracery as foreground; try low perspectives to dramatize spires.
  • Frame the Madonnina with converging lines from the pinnacles.

Baseline Settings

  • Exterior dusk: f/5.6–f/8, ISO 200–800; brace on stone (not edges).
  • Interior: open aperture and raise ISO; expose for stained glass to protect highlights.

Night Geometry

  • Expose for warm façades and a deep blue sky 15–30 minutes after sunset.

Bottom Line

Stone + sky are your palette; move slowly and watch how light grazes the carvings.
